The second-hand shopping app has updated its size classifications for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all shoppers about the modification. Online Platforms Reaction Countless users and merchants are posting online saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification than originally posted as a result of the reclassification. Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with similar services. It has advised users to check their listings and manually change the size when needed, resulting in member annoyance. Measurement Approach Updates Before the change, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10. The new system has a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. Shopper Stories Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. A different member, from Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22. "Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she explained. Manual Updates Another shopper, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing". "Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated. Platform Context The app has more than 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK. It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop. This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
